The speaker for the December meeting will be Dr. Michael Covington. From 1984 until his retirement in 2013, Dr. Covington served as a research scientist in the UGA Institute for Artificial Intelligence. His topic will be “Artificial Intelligence and Christian Values”. Abstract below.
Abstract: Depending on what you mean by it, artificial intelligence (AI) is either a hot new area of computer technology, or humankind’s hope for the future, or a tremendous threat. In this talk I’ll tell you what AI comprises; what parts of it are real, what parts aren’t, and what parts may never be; and what the actual moral, ethical, and philosophical challenges are.
We will provide a light complimentary lunch to everyone who sends in their RSVP by Tuesday, Dec. 3, by 5 pm. You can RSVP by filling out the form below.
