The first Christian Faculty Forum monthly meeting of the school year will be held Thursday, September 1, with Dr. Jefrey Breshears, Director of the Areopagus Christian Study Center, as the speaker. Jefrey has spoken to our group before on various topics, many of which have been historical in nature as his PhD is in History. He also was a professor at both Georgia State and Kennesaw State where he taught history, philosophy, and religion. His topic will be Francis Schaeffer: A Retrospective on His Life and Legacy (abstract below). The meeting will be held in Tate 473 from 12:30-1:30 (Note: the start time is 15 minutes earlier than the past year but the meeting will still be limited to 1 hour).
Abstract: – A prolific author and esteemed apologist, Francis Schaeffer, along with C.S. Lewis, was one of the most influential Christian thinkers of the 20th century. In a secularized society that is increasingly hostile to morality in general and Christianity in particular, Schaeffer’s writings and worldview offer valuable insight today into how we should now live.
