The next Christian Faculty Forum monthly meeting will be held Wednesday, October 5, with Dr. Mike Licona as our speaker. Mike earned his PhD in New Testament from the University of Pretoria and is an associate professor of theology at Houston Baptist University. Mike is also the founder and president of Risen Jesus Ministry which has a focus on providing authentic answers to questions about the resurrection of Jesus and the historical reliability of the Gospels. His topic will be Why Are There Differences in the Gospels? (abstract below). The meeting will be held in Tate 473 from 12:30-1:30 (Note: the start time is 15 minutes earlier than the past year but the meeting will still be limited to 1 hour).
Abstract: – Alleged contradictions in the Gospels is a frequent objection to their being historically reliable sources about Jesus. Mike discusses how ancient literature was written and provides fascinating insights pertaining to how ancient compositional devices often resulted in the types of differences we observe in the Gospels and in much of ancient literature.
A light lunch will be served to everyone who sends in their RVP by 5 pm, Tuesday, October 4, by filling out the form below.
