The first Christian Faculty Forum meeting of the new year will be held on Thursday, January 9th, from 12:30 to 1:30 in Tate 473 with Dr. Wayne Coppins as our speaker. Dr. Coppins is a professor and former department head in the religion department at UGA. His current research and teaching interests are focused on the Synoptic Gospels. Dr. Coppins did his undergraduate studies at UGA before earning his MA from the University of Durham and his PhD in Theology and Religious Studies from the University of Cambridge. The title of his presentation is “The Structure and Meaning of the Gospel of Matthew” (abstract below).
A light lunch will be provided to everyone who sends in their RSVP by 5 pm, Wednesday, January 8th, by filling out the form below. If you plan to attend but don’t need a lunch provided, please RSVP and indicate that as well.
Abstract: Dr. Coppins will discuss the structure and meaning of the Gospel of Matthew, giving special attention to how this informs our reading of the Sermon on the Mount.
