April 7, 2016 – Dr. Jeff Dorfman

Date: Thursday, April 7, 2016

Time: 12:30 to 1:30 pm

Location: Tate Room 473 (Formerly The Taste of Home Cafe)

Speaker: Dr. Jeff Dorfman, UGA Professor in Agricultural and Applied Economics

Topic: “Economics, Christianity, and Today’s Debate about Inequality”

Abstract:  For two thousand years Christian thinkers have debated the topics of wealth, poverty, and charity. In today’s debate about economic inequality, what has Christ called us as Christians to do about these issues? How are we to respond? Is wealth evil? Should we strive to earn a lot of money or quit our jobs to be missionaries? What role should the government play in addressing these issues and should Christians support or oppose those roles? Can economics actually help us understand or achieve our religious ideals?

A light lunch will be provided to all who RSVP using the form below by Wednesday, April 6, at 5:00 pm.
