The next Christian Faculty Forum meeting will be held on Thursday, April 2nd, from noon to 1 pm in Tate 473. Our speaker will be Dr. David Okech. Dr. Okech is a professor in the UGA School of Social Work, the Georgia Athletics Association Endowed Professor of Human Trafficking Implementation Research, and the director of the Center on Human Trafficking Research & Outreach (CenHTRO). He is committed to using prevalence and baseline data that are survivor-informed to design policies and programs that can prevent human trafficking and provide assistance to survivors. David’s talk is entitled “Trafficking Image Bearers: Motivations to Stop an Evil.” An abstract is below.
Abstract: As a Christ follower, Dr. Okech’s commitment to help prevent human trafficking is rooted in his worldview that each person is created in the image of God. His talk will give some information and data on trafficking but will center on his faith as a motivator and guiding force in his research.
