The first Christian Faculty Forum monthly meeting of the year will be held on Thursday, September 7, from 12:30 to 1:30 in Tate 473. Our speaker will be Dr. Vince Botta, the new Executive Director of Mercy Health Center. Mercy Health is a Christian Health Resources Center in Athens created to share the gospel through a ministry of healthcare to underserved members of Athens and the surrounding communities. Vince has a background in education serving many years as a teacher, advancing to serving as a principal in Gwinnett County, and being promoted to HR director for the Gwinnett County Board of Education. His goal to help others succeed and to provide leadership and plans to bring about positive change makes his giftedness a match for leading Mercy Health Center.
Abstract: Most days we are confronted with the challenges of poverty and homelessness right in our backyard of Athens and the area’s surrounding counties. As Christians we are moved to be compassionate but often don’t know how to help. Mercy Health Center provides medical, dental, dispensary, and whole-person health care in a Christ-centered environment. Come find out what makes Mercy effective, ongoing challenges, and future plans for impacting Athens.
